My Technology Co-Chair Annette and I will be presenting at the Maryland Library Association Annual Conference to be held in beautiful (but of course we won't see it because we will be up to our necks in conferencing) Ocean City, MD in May of 2008.
The theme is Renaissance 2.0: Imagine - Create- Transform
We are excited about this opportunity to share our experience about running a technology fair for library employees with our Maryland colleagues.

Technology Fair UPDATE
Thank you to everyone who helped or played at the technology fair. The feed on the right side of the page is to some photos of the Bel Air Edition of the Fair.
There is also a YouTube from Abingdon here. Enjoy!
Not that we were having fun or anything....that is the Best Buy Business Rep Rob and I dueling on Guitar Hero. He defeated me easily, but I burned more calories doing it!

What Type of User are You??
In the wake of Web 2.0 /We Web increased use, The Pew (Charitable Trust) Internet American Life Project conducted a survey designed to classify Americans into different groups of technology users. Makes for very interesting reading. Pew has a great reputation in the non-profit world.
Here is the link to the Publication Abstract and a link to the very quick to complete survey. In less than five minutes see who has some of the same characteristics as you do.
I classified as an Omnivore.
Surprised?

Tech Fair registration is ready for business!
The Harford County Public Library Technology Fair is coming!
On the first two Wednesdays in June HCPL will be hosting a Technology Fair to expose staff to some of the newest technology. Attendance is mandatory for full and part time staff; subs and pages should do their best as branch and personal schedules allow. We also hope that attending this kickoff event will encourage staff to sign up for Maryland Libraries 2.0, a statewide technology learning initiative. More on that later via internal email.
The following 8 sessions are available:
Wednesday, June 6 (Bel Air) 2 pm – 5 pm
8 am – 11 am
10 am – 1 pm
12 pm – 3 pm
2 pm – 5 pm
Wednesday, June 13th (Abingdon)
8 am – 11 am
10 am – 1 pm
12 pm – 3 pm
2 pm – 5 pm
I realize you see overlaps, but during the first hour you will attend an overview presentation, and then visit six demos for the second two hours. That allows us to present the overview to the second group while the first is still busy. Complicated, but ingenious!
